What the ... humbug?!?!?

I find it hard to give a shit about Christmas this year. I just can't bring myself to care beyond making sure I got something nice for Mom.

Right now I have a lot of anger inside me and it doesn't seem to be going away. The way my siblings have acted (the ones who live here or could be here) since Mom's operation leaves me pissed off to no end. Even though she is getting better, today she was told she can go back to water fit and drive plus she no longer needs physio, for the most part they weren't there for her.

I just can't seem to let go of the anger yet. I don't know if I want to let it go.

I'm exhausted.

I have received a few inquires about how I am, where I am, am I still blogging. While I am not ready to go into a lengthy diatribe on life right now I will say this.

Mentally, physically, emotionally I find myself exhausted right now. A month ago my mother had knee replacement surgery for her left knee. The siblings who could help care for her are pretty much useless. One has helped a bit. Another who lives about 15 minutes away by car has visited Mom once since her surgery. Another who could be here isn't. Everything pretty much falls on me.

The exception is one of my Sister-in-Laws. (My Brother works out of province.) She is a godsend. Between her and I we made sure someone was there, if even for a little while, morning, noon, and night while Mom was in hospital. She has also prepared and brought over 5-6 meals after Mom came home.

Stig visited for 5 days and it coincided with the day Mom came home. Having him here helped a lot. It gave me someone to talk with. Hang out with, even if it was mainly at home.

One of my Aunts came down the day of Mom's surgery and stayed all afternoon and most of the evening. That way someone would be there whenever Mom came around.

My siblings who could be helping ... meh. Not worth ranting about right now. It will just piss me off. Plus I don't really like airing family laundry in public.

My life right now consists of work. Come home walk the dog. Clean up for mom and/or run errands. Cook. Walk the dog. Sleep. Work. Etc.

My days off are spent, for the most part, running her to Doctors appointments, physio, and running errands. There was a bit of a set back last week that required 7.5 hours in the ER.

All of which means I am a bit too busy, and not really inclined, to blog. Once things settle down I am pretty sure I will be shooting my mouth off again.

Is it so wrong to just want to take my dog to a fucking off leash park and NOT encounter dogs off leash? Based on every walk today (4) it is a pipe dream. From some fucktard letting her 2 dogs loose at 7 Am to tards on the run every other time I went out with Grizzly. It is fucked up.

What the ... booking stupidity?

Justin Bieber was booed at during the Grey Cup half time show. Actually, the boos would erupt whenever his picture was shown on the screens according to the article. Of course he was booed. Most football fans aren't teen aged girls who love bieber.

The game was sold out before the half time line up was announced. Which means the tickets were not bought with the half time show acts being a concern. Did they really think the bulk of the adult male fans who were going would be Bieber fans? If they did they are fucking morons.Know your target audience and book accordingly.

I have to give Bieber credit for not letting the crowd get to him. It couldn't have been a pleasant experience but he didn't walk away from the challenge. I am not a fan of his music but you have to admire his perseverance.

Mook of the Week

You just can't escape mooks. Just when it looks like none are around one will rear their ugly head and fuck you around in some way. This morning is a good example.

When you get up at 3 or 5 AM for work 6 AM is sleeping in. What better way to start your weekend, Monday is my Friday, than a sunrise walk in the park with your dog? Grizz and I got there at 7 Am and there was NO ONE there. It was beautiful. The sunrise, walk, and the fact no one was there.

Of course, I should have known that wouldn't last. As we started down the main hill what happens? 2 Golden Retrievers start charging out of the brush. No human in sight. They weren't coming our way, yet, and were about 50 feet away. I made Grizzly sit and waited hoping the dogs would keep going.

No such luck. When the mook who brought them appeared she thought it was funny. One of the dogs noticed her looking our way and laughing. So it decided to start charging our way. That set Grizzly off. I told the mook to get her dog under control.

What did she reply? One of the standard dog mook comments. "Its ok. My dog is friendly."

I gave my standard reply to that. "Mine isn't. Get yours under control."

The bitch laughed and said she didn't have a leash. She did start calling the dog, which ignored her. At this point Grizzly was ready to throw down. Her dog stopped about 10 feet away then ran off. Smart dog. Stupid fucking owner.

I yelled at her "You loopy fucking cunt. You bring two dogs out to an ON LEASH park and don't even bring a leash. Fuck you are a moron." She muttered something and went off after the dogs. The dogs were almost out of sight at that point.

Her SUV was parked beside my car. I suppose she had no choice to park there considering how full the lot was with only my car there.

If you see a red Highlander with the plate DSW 424 beware it is being driven by a cunning stunt and mook of the Nth degree.

Foot in Motormouth Diease

Sarge saw Skyfall the weekend it opened. On the Monday he talked about it on the drop. As we talked about the Bond franchise Motormouth said "I have every Bond movie."

The topic turned to the various Bonds. Who was your favourite? As soon as someone mentioned Connery MM blurted out "He isn't British!"

I smirked, as did everyone else, and thought "Ha. Got you, you ignorant little prick. You are going to say he is English. Not British. He is Scottish AND British." That is pretty much what the others thought. None of us were ready for the direction Motormouth went in.

MM went on "Connery is American!".

There was a collective silence for a few seconds. We all tried wrapping our minds around what the moron had just said.

"No, he is not America." Several of us said at the same time.

"He is an American. I read it somewhere. It is a fact."

Sarge lost it "You fucking moron. Connery is British. Every Bond has been British. How fucking stupid are you?"

Motormouth went into defend the indefensible mode. "No. Connery is American. Bond doesn't have to be British."

A lot of things were said at that point about the stupidity that is Motormouth. I said "Motormouth, Connery is Scottish. And British. How teh fuck could you think he is a Yank?"

His reply was "Well, I never watched the early Bond movies." This from a person that had started off by bragging he had every Bond movie. Nor could he say just where he got this nugget of "fact" about Connery being American. Sarge summed it up best when he said "MM, you just have to talk even when you don't know what you are talking about. You make stuff up. This is why people think you are a fucking idiot."

Motormouth actually compunded his folly later. One of the guys, Mike, will sometimes sing Opera while working. Opera is not my favourite genre of music but Mike does have a good voice for it. I just zone it out. As we are finishing up Mike is joking around and singing Justin Bieber's song "boyfriend" badly. (Can Bieber be sung any other way?) After a bit I jokingly tell him he should stick to Opera.

Motormouth had to chime in. "Yeah Mike. Stick to The Tenors and Mussolini."

I looked at him and said "Mussolini?"

"Yeah, isn't he an Opera singer?" replied MM. Once again, it is hard to believe, but that is what MM believed.

"Mussolini was an Italian dictator and fascist who sided with the Nazis in WW2. You did go to school didn't you?"

"Oh, I must have mixed him up with someone else."

"Or you are just an idiot taht can't shut up when he doesn't know he is talking about." said Sarge.

At times I think of what Duffman said. Motormouth is either a comedic genious doing this deliberately for laughs and getting away with it. Or he is a moron. I believe it is the latter. He just wants to be in every conversation, even when it isn't his business, and just says whatever comes to mind to be part of it.

Motormouth motors on.

One day on the drop we (Sarge, Donny, and myself) started talking about a shooting that took place the night before. Sarge mentioned he lived just outside 'The Hood', which he does, and heard of a few that happened there.

I mentioned that I had heard a street was renamed because of a shooting. Sarge told me about what happened. A drive by shooting on Churchill Drive left a little girl, Roleika, dead. The street was renamed after her.

Motormouth felt he had to chime in. He started going on about the shooting and how it happened on Montebello Road. Sarge corrected him. It happened on Churchill.

No no no. Motormouth knows all or at least thinks he does. Most people when faced with reality would admit defeat. Not Motormouth. He just keeps digging. (Reminds me of some internet fucktards.)

Sarge ened up saying "You really know nothing MM. It happened on CHURCHILL drive. CHURCHILL was renamed ROLEIKA to honour the dead girl. If it happened on Montebello why the fuck would they rename Churchill?"

Motormouth still hemmed and hawed a bit. Tried some backpedaling. Then one of the deaf guys told him to shut the fuck up and work.

Mook of the Week

One of the reasons why Mook of the Week hasn't been around much is because I usually encounter them while driving and I don't take pictures while driving. Which brings me to my latest entry.

Stig was visiting for five days. We had a great time sadly it had to end and a Mook had to rear his ugly head.

We were driving to the airport. It was a very clear morning. 5:30 Am. No precipitation on the ground or in the air. Light cloud. The speed limit is 100 KPH. The mook in the lead is going between 65 and 75 KPH. What the hell?!?!?

The guy behind him, we were the 2nd car behind the mook, was frustrated. You could see him using his high beams. The only passing area available until you joined with the highway to the airport was short and of course traffic was coming in that lane so there was no window of opportunity to use it. A line of traffic was forming behind us.

Maybe the driver has problems driving at night. Whether a medical condition (night vision problems) or just plain nervousness. Regardless the solution is simple. DON'T FUCKING DRIVE AT NIGHT! You wonder why people lose their nut and do stupid things while driving? Assholes like this mook.

If I had been in a hurry I would have been more pissed off than I was. Suffice it to say that when the opportunity arose to pass the idiot I took it, held the position beside him, laid on the horn, then Stig and I both let the fucktard know we thought he was #1.

As we reached the speed limit, now 110 KPH, the fucktard quickly vanished. A long stream of cars were pointing back to his location like a giant glowing fuck finger. There must have been 12-15 cars that were stuck behind this mook.

I can only hope he goes to the LA freeways and drives like this. Or gets enough sense to stay the fuck off the roads.

What the ... gouging?!?!

According to the media oil prices will rise ... including gas and diesel prices ... because of hurricane Sandy. As far as I know New York and New Jersey are not, and have never been, oil producing states. So just how the hell are prices going up because Sandy hit them? It sounds like gouging as normal by the oil companies with the tacit approval of our Government.

What the ... democratic election?!?!?

I am watching CBC Newsworld and they are all agog over the "democratic" election of the  new "leader" of China. Democratic? Really? They really believe this is some sort of democratic election? Yes, Peoples Candidate #1 running against ... no one ... is being elected in a landslide. What a great show of democracy in action.

Jesus H. Christ. They have the obligatory Asian (Maybe even actually Chinese) "reporter" yammering on about the impending election of candidate #1.

Get over it, no matter how much you want to gloss shit over, China is NOT a democracy. No matter how hard you try having a congress of despots choose one of their own to be the new "democratic" leader does not REALLY make China a democracy.

Who they fuck are they trying to fool? The Chinese, us. or themselves?

What the ... salesmanship?!?!

I am at the airport early to pick Stig up. It is 5:40 AM. A body needs coffee. I go to the Tim Horton's and order a large with a shot of espresso. That is when things got a little weird.

The woman at the counter says "I find the espresso doesn't work."

Seriously? Was she trying to suggest I DON'T buy it? I know she was trying to make small talk but one would think that she wouldn't want to lose a sale or make a lesser one. Which is what would have happened if, based on her comment, I changed my mind and got one with the shot.

My reply was "Well, I like the taste." And I left it at that.

It reminded me of what happened when I went to get some film developed at Shopper's Drug Mart in August. I dropped off 3 rolls of film. The clerk then started lecturing me on how I should invest in a digital camera and stop using film. What, they don't want my business?

I told the guy while I appreciated his concern I like using 35mm film for some shots. I happen to own a digital camera and use it when I want to. Not when someone suggests it. Then I said "If you don't want me bringing film in to develop just say so. I can always go elsewhere."

His reply was to stutter a bit and say "No. We want your business. I was just suggesting it would be cheaper."

I replied "Thanks for worrying about my money for me. If the price was an object I wouldn't be using the film."

He dropped it at that point. As did I.

Really though, are these people trying to talk people out of being customers? Or out of a sale? Or into a lesser sale that they aren't looking for? It is one thing to offer friendly advice. It is another to try and talk someone out of a sale.

Some More Motormouth

You are walking down the hallway at the same time Motormouth is. He sees someone 30 or maybe even 40 feet away and at the top of his lungs shouts "Hi Buddy! How are you doing today buddy?"

They respond in a normal voice "Hi. Good."

Motormouth shouts back "So how are you are doing today? Good?"

They ignore him and keep walking.

He encounters someone entering the hallway about 6 feet away from him. He shouts " Hi John Lancaster! How is John doing today?"

John politely replies "Hi Motormouth." and continues on his way.

Thus started my day at work. Such is life when working around Motormouth. Everyday.

Mook of the Week

The Mook of the Week is a no brainer. (It is late though. I meant to post this a couple of days after the Bustard post.)

Shadia Lane aka the Cleveland Bustard.

She got into an argument with a bus driver. She hadn't put any money in and claimed she was still looking for it. The bus driver figured she didn't have it. Insanity ensued. While the bus was moving she physically attacked the driver. She pushed him a couple of times and at one point may have gone for his neck. WHILE THE BUS WAS MOVING. Finally, having had enough, the driver stopped the bus, got up, and gave her an uppercut that dropped her like a sack of flour. Then he threw her off the bus. She got up and went back into the bus to continue fighting him.

Now she is going to try and milk her stupidity for all she can. Odds are a lawsuit against the driver and the transit authority is in the future. It doesn't matter that she endangered the lives of everyone on the bus by attacking the driver while the bus was moving. She is the victim. At least in her world.

What a fucking mook.

What the ... halloweenies?!?!?!?

I am watching the news and they are talking about popular costumes this Halloween. The talking head introduces the next reporter by saying she is wearing her orange and black costume. Costume? She is wearing regular fucking clothes that just happen to be orange and black.

I had heard someone talk about people celebrating orange and black day and thought that was pretty stupid. Then "news people" start calling regular black and orange clothes a costume. Pretty fucktardic if you ask me.

Motormouth - Racist Ramblings

A few weeks ago we were at work. Sarge, Donny, and myself were there from our department. Motormouth, Blair (one of the deaf guys), and J-Man from their department. Motormouth was his usual self, talking nonsense. Half way through he really started putting his foot in his mouth, and coming off as a racist fucktard.

Blair wadded a bunch of tissue up into a ball and looked at MM. "You need to shut up and work or I will stuff this in your mouth." Sadly, the deaf workers have repeatedly had to tell MM to shut up because he talks to much. As I have said elsewhere, if deaf people complain you talk to much then you have a problem.

MM ignored it. I almost said as usual but sometimes he gets mouthy with them, as he does with others who complain about his constant chatter. And the chatter does affect his productivity. He doesn't multi-task well.

Blair tossed the wad of tissue and Sarge caught it. HE took a couple of pieces of tissue in his ears and sighed in relief. Some of the tissue went on his shoulders. It kind of looked like the back of a Foreign Legion cap, a kepi, with the sun guard for the neck. That is when Motormouth started digging himself a hole.

He looked at Sarge and said "You look like a camel jockey with one of them camel jockey hats on."

Sarge looked at him incredulously and said "What did you just call me?"

"I didn't call you a camel jockey!" Motormout stammered "I am just saying ... I bet you have one of those hats in your closet."

We were all pretty much stunned by that. Motormouth did what he does best when there is any silence and kept running his mouth off.

"I am not saying you are a camel jockey. I am just saying I bet you have one of those hats."

"You are pretty much calling him a camel jockey MM." J-Man said.

"No I'm not. I'm just saying I bet he has one of those hats."

I could keep typing how this conversation went but it would be very repetative. For the next 5-7 minutes Motormouth kept saying the same thing "I'm not saying he is .... but ...". A couple of us tried explaining to him that most people would interpret that as calling them a racial slur. He kept denying it was one while saying the same thing. "I'm not saying he is one ... I am just saying I bet he has the hat in his closet." He just didn't get it even when it was explained in words that a child could understand.

Finally MM decided to change the topic as this was just pissing everyone off. He looked at me and said "Do you know what a Spic is?"

I couldn't believe that THIS is the direction he would go. I glared at him and said "Yes. It is what a racist calls a Hispanic person. "

I guess he wasn't expecting that answer. He did his job for about a whole, oh, 10 seconds before looking at me and said "Did you know that during the war we called Germans Krauts?".

I gave him a dirty look and said "Did you know that my Father's family came from Germany?"

That seemed to get through to him and he went back to doing his job for a couple of minutes before heading off on another, non-racist, tangent.

What the ... (Cleveland) bustard?!?!?

I was asked if I saw "the video of the bus driver" yesterday. I didn't know what my co-worker was talking about. A lot of people at work were talking about it. A video on YouTube of a bus driver in Cleveland giving a vicious uppercut to a woman and tossing her off the bus. It didn't sound like something I would like to watch. Seeing a guy hit a woman isn't something I find funny.

A co-worker said "You have to watch the whole video. See what led up to it." So I did. Damn. While I do not like the idea of a man hitting a woman I would have to say there was a lot of provocation. (Oh, and to the YouTards who posted about the women being a teen girl ... fuck off. The bustard is 25 years old. She is a grown ass woman!) She was actually pushing him while he was driving the bus and at one point it looked like she went for his neck. WHILE HE WAS DRIVING THE BUS!!! I don't like that he hit her, I would hope I would have reacted another way, but I understand why he did it.

Then I watched the interview the woman, Shidea Lane, did. (Mind you it was on a FOX station so I shouldn't be surprised.) What a crock of shit. Typical of the media wanting to sensationalise a story, they left out everything the woman did leading up to the hit. The bitch actually tried to play the victim! After watching that I think she got what she deserved. She is lucky she wasn't in Florida or he could have shot her.

The bitch tried playing the victim card. She actually had the gall to go on about how it is "amazing to see how a man could hit a woman that hard." You could have sent a bus load of people out of control and killed them you stupid cunt. You are lucky you aren't in jail! Of course none of this was mentioned by the Fox "reporter".

The "reporter" did ask her about her actions, without any detail, leading up to the punch.

Reporter: "What can you say about your role in this incident? Did you hit him?"

Bustard: "No, see, that is why I want to talk to my lawyer. I can't answer that question. I am sorry but there is more to it ... its like ... there is more to it than that."

The "reporter" lets that slide and says, in a voice over of the video of her being hit ,

"But Lane does admit that 2 wrongs do not make a right and she says she's changed."

I do have to chuckle when the bustard says if it happened again she would "remove myself from the situation without even the decency of having a conversation with the guy." Conversation? I hope she doesn't think that her antics on the bus constituted a conversation. Then again if she sees herself as the victim she is probably deluded enough to think that.

After watching both videos, I think the bustard got off lucky. She should have been charged for attacking the bus driver. Or at least for endangering the others by attacking him while the bus was moving. The bus driver has been suspended and may lose his job. The bustard is getting her 15 minutes of fame instead of being charged with assault. Odds are she will try to milk the incident for all she can. Such is life.

A couple of other things kind of stuck in my craw over this incident.

The passengers on the bus. What did they do while this was going on? Many whipped out their cell phones to video it.  None tried to stop her when she was attacking the driver while the bus was moving. Even the "security guard" on the bus was next to useless. I would hope that if some moron is attacking my bus driver I have the sense to stop them. Especially if the bus is moving!

The RTA's response. Suspend the bus driver. Apologize for the incident. Yet they don't address the actions of the bustard that led to the incident. They are perfectly happy to dump all blame on the driver.  Odds are this is to try and prevent a lawsuit but that doesn't make it right.

The police. Given the fact this footage is public and has been for what, a month, why hasn't ANYONE been charged? If the bus driver's actions were so reprehensible why wasn't he charged? And why the hell wasn't the bustard charged for endangering the lives of the other passengers? Just because he hit her?

The security guard. It was pointed out to me that the person in the orange vest with yellow stripes was a security guard. If true, why the hell didn't THEY subdue the bustard? What a useless git. Why weren't they suspended for not doing their job?

Shit Morons Say about loose dogs.

"Just let him run loose."

"I pay for this."

I am walking Grizzly at Cole Harbour Heritage Park and run into some mooks. It hasn't been that bad lately, it has been colder than usual. Today was beautiful unfortunately and the park was full of people. Well, unfortunate that an inordinate amount of mooks were out.

As we came to a section where some trails merge along trots a bulldog carrying a big branch. He looke dlike he was enjoying his walk. The own was a blonde twit. She was about 30+ feet away mooking about on her cell phone and not really paying attention to her dog.

We were about 15 feet from her dog. It wasn't heading our way. So, I decided to bite the bullet and keep my mouth shut. No shouting at the mook. No snarky comments. Just ignore it.

The mook decided she should speak up. she started telling me that I should let my dog loose. I stayed polite and said "That ok. I would rather not." Her dog showed more sense than she has and continue up the other path. She decided to stop and say "Just let him run loose. I am sure he will come back."

Showing restraint I wasn't sure I had I smiled and replied. "That's ok. I am pretty sure he would take off. Plus he doesn't get along well with other (large) dogs."

Instead of continuing on and just letting it go she reiterated "You should just let him loose."

I had enough at that oint and had gone above and behind being polite. I gave her a dirty look and snarled. "If I wanted to let my dog loose I wouldn't have taken him to an ON LEASH PARK. I bring him here so we won't run into loose dogs. Unfortunately a lot of fucking idiots come here and let their dogs loose."

She finally saw the light, gave me a dirty look, and stomped off after her dog. Her story doesn't end there though.

When I got back to the parking lot a Park Warden was there. He was cleaning up the parking lot area. We ended up chatting for a while. I mentioned running into the bimbo with the bulldog. He shook his head and said that he had a talk with her about letting her dog loose on the opposite side of the hill I encountered her on.

The dog was running loose and he reminded her, in front of a sign saying it, that it was an on leash park. Department of Natural Resources does patrol it and she can be fined $165 if they see her with her dog loose. She ended up putting her dog back on leash, going over the crest of the hill and the letting it loose again. That is when I met her. Fucking mook.

But the story doesn't end there. I got to see the Warden in action with another dog mook. A couple got out of their truck with a Lab. They had a ball thrower with them. The Warden was very polite with them. He said he noticed the thrower and wanted to let them know this was an on leash park. Department of Natural Resources does patrol it and they can issue a fine of  $165 to someone with a loose dog.

What was the guys reaction? To ask if DNR was in the park right now. The Warden said he wasn't going to confirm or deny if they were there now. (Good answer. The fucking mook actually thought he would tell him.)  Then he said "Well I guess we will go to Shubie."  The Warden thanked him.

As the guy was leaving he pulled up beside the Warden and started chirping. "My tax dollars at work."

The Warden replied "Actually, we (the Wardens) are volunteers. We don't get paid for maintaining the park."

The mook snarled "Well I pay."

I said "So do I. Want to step out and debate who is in the right here?"

He stomped on the gas and gave the finger and drove off. Such an  eloquent asshole.

Fucking mooks.

Motormouth 2

Motormouth ... damn ... he is the kind of fucktard you could write a whole blog about. In some ways he reminds of shit Koreans say. You just can't make the shit up. Yet it is hard to believe.

One day he was being himself. Which meant he never stopped talking as soon as he started his shift. Another  co-worker, lets call him Sarge, had a headache to start. MM was making it worse. At one one point Sarge asked him to please be quiet for just 5 minutes. Sarge was extremely polite. MM blew up. "I can fucking talk as much as I want to." Shit in that vein.

Later, MM was going on about how no one at work would hang out with him. Little wonder considering what he is like. Then he started in on Sarge. "You never hang with me homey." Sarge looked at him and said "I am twice your age. Why would I hang out with you?"

MM went on "You could hang out with me!" Sarge reiterated what he said  more vehemently. "I am twice your fucking age. Why the hell would I hang out with you? I have nieces and nephews your age and I don't hang out with them. I don't even like you. Why the fuck would I hang out with you?!?!?"

Motormouth just used that to go on a long rant. He continued on the vein of no one (co-workers) would hang out with him. Then he went off on a tangent about how his friends would rather be with their girlfriends than hang out with him.

(Sidebar: His friends introduced their girlfriends to him. The GF's couldn't stand him. Most people can't. Ergo they don't want to be around him. Ergo the friends want to be with their GF and don't hang out with him much any more.)

Motormouth ranted on about how he would rather spend time with his bros than hoes. "I want to spend time with guys! Women can fuck off. Just give me time with my bros."

Sarge had enough after 15 minutes of this. He looked MM in the eye with a smile and said "Motormouth, just turn gay. That is all you have to do. Then you can spend all your time with guys."

That sent Motormouth over the edge. He fucking lost it. "I'm not gay! I just prefer spending my time with guys! I prefer guys." It was hard not to break out laughing. He just didn't get that what he was saying contradicted what he wanted to say. That what he was saying was pretty fucking stupid. That he is an annoying git.

How Sarge kept a straight face and didn't piss himself laughing when he said that I don't know. I wanted to.

MM started having a bit of a breakdown after that. Making more mistakes than usual. Having temper tantrums like a kindergarten kid would have when he fucked up. Yet he is supposed to be an adult. He just isn't firing on all cylinders.

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

There is a guy at work we call Motormouth. Ok, that is the nicest, non-profane name we use for him. I know I talk a lot but this guy makes me look mute. It wouldn't be so bad except he talks shit most of the time. He is worse than a gobshite.

My first introduction to him  had me shaking my head. He prattled on non-stop about ... well ... anything and everything. The guy can go from 0-dolphin in 2 seconds. Or less.

The deaf guys actually complain that he talks to much! When deaf people tell you that you need to shut up you should realize you have a problem.

Add to that he just doesn't seem to know what common courtesy is. He will interrupt people at the drop of a hat. Insinuate himself into conversations that have nothing to do with him, and he knows nothing about.

Most people at work say that MM has no filter. I don't think that is the problem. He is just a fucktard. Maybe even special needs. Unfortunately, his uncle is an Assistant General Manager so he gets away with being a fucktard.

Of course, what will follow are some stories of Motormouth. :)

What the ... religitard?!?!?

"God never gives you more than you can handle."

This was the response of one of my Mother's church friends when she told her about the stress filled hell life has been lately. The main point being Grizzly has cancer is is dying.

Seriously?!?! That is the best and most comforting piece of religious drivel the woman could come up with? It ranks way up there with the comment another fucktard once made to me after my Mother almost died from heart failure; "Well she is getting old you have to expect that."

You just can't escape from fucktards. But they do give proof of one of my favourite quotes. "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity." Fucktards do bring new life to stupid.

I'm not dead yet.

Yes, it has been a while. Life gets that way sometimes. It has been pretty stress and BS filled since my last posts. Hell, including the last few posts. But life goes on and so will I. :)

As I finished this post up I realized where the title came from. yes, Monty Python Quest for the Holy Grail but more than that. A friend, someone closer than my brothers, had pretty much vanished. I got his last known mailing address, email wasn't that big yet, and sent him a letter asking a simple question. "Are you dead?" His repy was "I'm not dead yet.." and life went on. :)

Oh, and to the JohnDoe who sent some spammish comments, unless you can prove you are responsible for my car dying, several people quitting work causing shit loads of OT, a friends father dying, my dog having cancer, oh and me getting NHL 13 for PS3, then I am pretty sure you are not responsible for my absence from blogging. If you are responsible and can prove it I will worship you and call you my lord.

The Tipping Point.

The last couple of weeks have been pretty stressful. Grizzly's cancer. His surgery. The car needing a new engine. Sundry lesser things.  For most of it, the non-Grizzly stuff, I was able to slough it off. Sometimes everyone reaches their tipping point though and I almost reached mine a couple of days ago. Or I reached it and avoided it. Hard to say.

What set it off? The car ... again. A stupid warning light going off for the ABS after I had spent nearly $2000 getting the damn thing fixed. It turned out to be a loose connector but I was pretty much ready to go over the edge if it had been anything more serious. Blood pressure was up enough to give me a headache.

It is strange what the final straw can be that will make us blow. Or almost do it. Like bad gas it too passed. For now.

What are the odds?

Grizzly has cancer. It is in his right leg and inoperable. Two years ago we started going through the same thing with Ruger but the opposite front leg.

They removed a tumour from Grizzly's leg but it WILL be back. When is up in the air but it will return. When it does and gets to a certain size ... it is time to let him go. :( Let him go. What a fucking stupid play on words. It is time to ... what do you say? Say good bye? Kill him? It is hard to put everything into one little catch phrase.

When the tumour gets to a certain size the only humane thing to do is have him euthanised. If not, the tumour will burst. Or break his bones, disjoint his leg, AND burst. It isn't fair to put him through that. I will not say life isn't fair but there are things we can do that are fair or unfair. Putting him through that would be wrong.

When it comes to cancer you start grieving right away. Regardless of the time remaining that is how we think. We (my family) did it when my father was wrongly diagnosed with cancer. When he rightly was. When Ruger was. Now, when Grizzly was. It is hard not to start the process right away. It is hard not to think of their life as over at that minute. It is wrong to do it but that is how we think.

What is important is that Grizzly has had a good life with us and until the end it will continue that way. We do and will always love him. He is part of our family and regardless of what happens always will be. :(

What the ... inability?!?!?

What is it with the inability of a lot of people to simply admit when they made a mistake and apologize? Do they think it is a sign of weakness? A sign of failure? I see this inability as a sign of immaturity and sometimes stupidity.

Hilda always comes to mind when this topic comes up. The ONLY times I can remember her apologizing is when it was an "I'm sorry for whatever I might have done." An apology made without knowing what she was apologizing for, if anything. As I have mentioned before, a type of apology she would NEVER accept from someone else. But she expects others to accept from her.

Once it comes down to her knowing what she has done wrong she never apologizes. Even if she agrees she did something wrong. She just can't bring herself to apologize. It has cost her a lot of friends over the years.

Then you have Jay. I have known Jay for 20+ years. He is the kind of person who will throw away a friendship for the smallest slight, whether real or perceived. He is also the kind of person that will never apologize even if he knows he was wrong. It has cost him a lot of friends over the years. Jay actually wears it like a badge of honour and bragged about being this way.

Now you have Mr. C, my co-worker who flipped out at me. I am not the first person at work he has spazzed out at for little to no reason. From what I know of him it is pretty safe to say it won't be the last time either. He is also the type that won't apologize. It doesn't matter that he knows he was wrong. He has told people he knows it. He won't apologize. He keeps losing friends.

It is kind of sad to think that people are that screwed up. They would rather lose friends than apologize when they were wrong.

What the ... misrepresentation?!?!?!?

The photo above appeared on my Facebook page. A friend had liked and shared it. It carries the following comment under it. (By the OP not my friend.)

Click SHARE if you have no sympathy for the greed of the NHL and it's players.

When I saw it there were 3714 likes and 8530 shares.

The only problem with it is ... it misrepresenting thing. First, the players didn't go on strike. They were locked out. There is a difference. Then you have the photo of the hockey player the OP used. It isn't even of a "striking" player crying because he is locked out. It is of Todd Bertuzzi attempting to show remorse for his goon like behavours a few years back when he destroyed Steve Moore Oh yeah, and in Canada at least, a soldier makes more than $20,000 a year A private starts at around $29,000 a year. (Yes, it doesn't compare to hockey players but it is still a misrepresentation in the post.)

If you want to compare their salaries with soldiers and show they are crybabies fine. But at least be truthful. It should be easy to find recent pics that would make the players AND NHL look unsympathetic. It isn't that hard to make an argument about how pro sports players are over paid, let alone the money the leagues make. It isn't hard to find out how much a soldier actually makes. As BB says below, do your homework. A little research goes a long way and helps your credibility.

When someone pointed it out (An act of futility when people post something like this. They really don't want to hear from anyone who disagrees.)

BB "I see the point but it's lost a bit with the Bertuzzi picture. If you want to send a message do your homework."

The knives and stupidity came out.

DS-D No, it's not lost at all. I don't follow sports at all and have no idea who the sportsman is, but I do know they're not worth what they get paid for playing a fucking GAME. Get a real job doing something worthwhile that betters humanity and EARN that money. I say leave the greedy bastards on the streets and fuck the NHL and their selfish players.

CL I don't need to do homework to know what that cry baby got payed!! Grow up baby!

Reality is not a friend to many people. Twisting things to suit your narrative still doesn't make you right. The tards could have used a different photo and not misrepresented the image and gotten their point across. Ok, maybe they couldn't. They are tards.

What the ... diplomatic bs?!?!?!?

"It  was unwise, uncivlilized, and hostile."

Those words were spoken by Iran's Charge d'Affaires Sheikh-Hassani in an interview on CBC. He is talking about the Harper Governments decision to close the Iranian Embassy here and our Embassy in Iran.

Unwise? It might be. I know I was surprised by the decision. In the long run not having people on the ground in Iran or their representatives here could cause problems. Only time will tell.

Hostile? I can see how it could be seen as being hostile to the Iranian government.

Uncivilized? Really? It isn't like we stormed their Embassy and held them hostage. THEY do shit like that. Also, it isn't like we gave them no notice.

According to Sheikh-Hassani after 9AM Friday morning a senior level Foreign Affairs officer showed up at the Iranian Embassy and gave him 2 notes. The 1st said they had to leave by Wednesday morning. The second informed him that we had already closed our Embassy in Iran and were bringing them home. They were given 5 days notice. It isn't like we just said "Get the fuck out now!"

I did find some of what the Charge d'Affaires said unusual. On one hand he tried to appear shocked by being asked to leave. Later he would talk about being ready for it and already having plans in place to close the Embassy. He tried sloughing it off as experienced diplomats being prepared for anything but that seemed weak. I don't know whether he was dissembling or not but it was strange.

While I am not sure the Harper Government made the right choice but Iran needs to get off its high horse and stopping whining about "uncivilized" actions.

The Wussification of Canada

I actually wrote this one during the winter last year but never got around to adding to it or posting it. It lingered on my post list waiting for that finishing touch. But what else can really be added? It is almost Autumn and soon winter will be upon us again, so, here it is, 2 seasons late. :)

I am starting to understand the "grumpy oldsters" who complain about how things were harder in their youth. Listening to Canadians piss and moan about the winter weather is what has done it for me. People call 10cm of snow a snow storm?

What the hell? 10 fucking cm a storm? They cancelled school because snow MIGHT fall?!?!? That is fucked. Wussies!!!!!!

What the ... ranking?!?!?!?

I was reading one of my favourite Montreal Canadiens related sites. They had an article about the Canadiens being ranked 111 out of 122 by ESPN the Magazine.

I will be the first to admit the Habs sucked last season. Anyone who tries saying they didn't is deny reality. Can they turn it around? Any team can. Can they do it quickly? I hope so but it wouldn't surprise me if it takes time. I can wait. But I digress.

The ESPN Magaine ranking. Heh. Out of all the hockey teams in the NHL they rank the Phoenix Coyotes as the Number 6 out of  122professional sports franchises looked at. Really? 6? After reading the reasoning, and rereading it several times to make sure I understood it, the crux of ESPN reasoning seems to be because of the Coyotes 2011-12 playoff experience.

After beating Chicago in the conference quarterfinals, the Coyotes returned to Phoenix to find a crowd of hundreds cheering them on at the airport. Fans said they were more likely than any other fans in the NHL to "get the most out of the money they spend." That's a brand of fan loyalty that all the big-name free agent signings in the world can't buy. During the playoffs, the Coyotes turned the arena with the lowest attendance in hockey into a sellout machine and had to create additional standing-room sections to accommodate all the fans.

What about the regular season? The fact that Phoenix had the LOWEST turnout of all NHL teams last season according to the stats compiled by ... ESPN? How about their ranking out of all NHL teams for attendance in the last 5 seasons?

2011-12   20
2010-11   29
2009-10   30
2008-09   28
2007-08   29

Of course "tickets are also the most affordable in the NHL" , no one wanted to watch the games! The fact they had to offer tickets as low as $25 to get people into the seats during the PLAYOFFS speaks volumes.

The Phoenix Coyotes? What the kimchi?!?!? I don't expect to see the Habs at the top of the list. But Phoenix ranked the top NHL franchise let alone #6 out of all pro sports franchises? Give me a break. It definitely makes me think the ranking is not worth taking seriously.

Shit Morons Say ...

“I think he (Kerry) diminished himself by even mentioning my name,"

"How does he even know my name?"

"So it’s funny that he would take a little pot shot like that, but it’s funny he even knows my name,“

Sarah Palin, what a gift to comedians. Just like the batshit she spewed out when running with McCain you don't need to comment on what she says to get a laugh. All you have to do is repeat her. What a fucking whack job. :) The love the Right has for her diminishes them.

This post is my reply to a comment made on What The Kimchi.

Anonymous September 4, 2012 9:25 AM
answer my question why not kill urself?

Yes, I know it wasn't meant as a real question. It was one of several attack comments  and threats posted by some anonymous fucktards hoping to piss me off. It is an interesting question and one that I choose to answer.

The short answer is that I don't believe in committing suicide.

While I understand that people can be driven to it suicide isn't something I could do or contemplate. If I believed in it I would have killed myself back in 1995 when my life was falling apart.

One of my cousins committed suicide in the early 90's. Her parents blamed themselves for not seeing it coming. Not having prevented it. It didn't matter that she lived halfway across the country when it happened. It didn't matter that she left a note. All that mattered was that one of their children was dead and they blamed themselves. It almost destroyed their marriage. My Uncle died in the late 90's and my Aunt STILL blames herself.

I believe that if you truly love just one person on the planet you won't put them through the hell of a suicide. I love my mother. I would NEVER want her to go through what my Aunt and Uncle did. Nor my Brothers and Sisters. Nieces and Nephews. It doesn't matter what you say or do, they will spend the rest of their lives blaming themselves for your death. I just couldn't do that to them.

Shit Morons Say ... about being single.

"And was eternally lonely and unhappy."

A friend on Facebook posted the above picture. It made me chuckle.

Then a friend of his felt compelled to post the comment up top about loneliness and unhappiness. A comment meant seriously. It reminded me of the Big Lie I was force fed growing up. You can't be happy unless you are married, preferably with children. An attitude of a lot of Asians buy into. Some of the Asians at work are OBNOXIOUS about it and go about trying to set people up. But that could be a whole other post.

Why the fuck can't some people, many people, get it through their pea brains that it is possible to be single and happy? Maybe THEY aren't capable of it but some people are. A lot of the time the reason single people aren't happy is that they have these assholes chirping at them about how lonely and unhappy they must be.

On top of that, considering how many people I know are NOT happy in their marriage, it seems like a load of bullshit to me. MOST of my friends aren't happy. Some are miserable. Some have their heads so far in the ground they don't know how miserable they seem to others. Maybe that is the real reason why they feel they have to preach the "joy" of being in a relationship/married ... they hate seeing people enjoy their lives.

What do you live by?

"Breakfast done, the paper read, it is mid-morning and my day is finally beginning. Today is a "practice day," as yesterday was; tomorrow and the nextday are "game days." Today, we are "at home," tomorrow we'll be "on the road." If someone were to ask me the day of the week, I would think for a moment and say it is Tuesday, though I wouldn't be sure. And if they wanted to know more, I would tell them it is February, but I don't know the date. I almost never know the date. And while sport life runs on time (and because it does, actually fifteen to thirty minutes ahead of time), I wear no watch. On "practice days" it is "before practice" or "after practice"; on "game days," before "the [team] meal," or "after teh meal." Occaisionally, usually travelling to or from the West Coast, we have a day with no game or practice, a "travel day." Less often, perhaps once a month, we have an "off-day," a day at home. This is the "hockey season"; three months from now, six months ago, it was the "off season" - these are the seasons of our year. While others live by a calendar and a clock, we live by a schedule."

Ken Dryden "The Game"

I was talking with family about work and trying to explain how we see time there. It wasn't easy. Before getting full time my work days were was all over the place. I didn't usually have the same "Monday" or "Friday". For about 3 months before getting FT my shifts were usually late afternoon and over night. Mainly overnight. It was nothing to hear someone saying "Morning" when I showed up at 6PM to start a 10 hour shift. Then of course "Have a good night." when I got off work at 4:30AM.

Now I am on days. Thursday is my Monday. Monday is my Friday. Tuesday and Wednesday are my weekend. Mornings are really mornings now.

Someone who didn't work there would find our comments about work time and days confusing. Maybe even a little insane. I know my friends and family got a little confused by my references at times.

Dryden definitely understands it. He put it into words I wish I had thought of. I live by a schedule. Not a clock or a calendar.

Beer Me!

The subject of beer came up at work yesterday. It was slow and three of us were standing around talking. One co-worker, G, brought up the subject. She said she would like to go back to Mexico, her native land, and open a bar. She wondered what our favourite Canadian beer was. K smirked and looked at me.

I hemmed and hawed a bit. Then I said "I don't really like Canadian beer. They are kind of boring." I prefer drinking European beers. Usually Irish, German, Czech, and Belgian. My beer of choice is Harp. I find most Canadian beers don't have much flavour when compared to the European ones. (I am talking about mainstream beers not the micro brewery stuff.) While it is better than the swill that comes out of the U.S. (mainstream companies) it isn't THAT good. Given a choice I will drink European beers.

Then I said, oh and Sol and Corona. (I should also give honourable mention to some Philippino beers like Negra Modela.) Those are good beers too. K started laughing. He knew that I would say that. We have had similar conversations in the past. He likes to brew his own beers and is fussier than me.

G NEVER expected us to praise a Mexican beer. She figured we would blindly push Canadian beers. It was an interesting conversation.

As I write this I am drinking some Harp. :)

Shit Morons Say ... to explain themselves.

"I usually go to Shubie."

So, Grizzly and I are out for a hike at Cole Harbour Heritage Park. We are about 3/4 of the way through it when we come upon ... drum roll ... 3 bitches. One dog running loose and two women.

They were about 20 feet away when I warned them that Grizzly doesn't get along with big dogs. It actually wasn't that bad an encounter. One of the women quickly leashed their dog. That is when she made that comment.

Shubie is short for Shubenacadie Park. I have gone there a few times with Grizzly. It is a great park and has a large off leash area for dogs. We tend to stay away from that part. It is one of several off leash parks in the city.

Why the fuck would you try to rationalize the fact you have your dog is running loose in an ON LEASH park by saying you usually go to an off leash park? It doesn't make your actions any better. In fact it means you KNOW that you are in the wrong.

Up until that point I thought they were just low grade mooks. After that I knew I was in the presence of Grade A mooks. Almost had a mook free walk. Maybe next time U will be luckier.

Monday, September 3, 2012

I have always said that people are basically selfish. I am. You are. Everyone is. The degree is what varies. Worrying about how things affect you is human nature. Not caring about how things affect anyone but you is what makes a super selfish person.

I figured out why the dog mooks irk me so much. When it comes to my walks with the dog I amVERY selfish. It is my time to decompress. If something is bothering me I will either think it through or ignore it for the duration. The dog loves the walks too. It is my main form of relaxation. So when something happens that affects that negatively I tend to react negatively.

Case in point, one of my brothers was visiting this summer. He is high maintenance and requires a lot of my time. He loves to walk. So every time I walked the dog, except once, while he was here he came along. Which meant I didn't have my relaxation. In fact, sometimes, the stress of life was heightened. I love him and was glad to see him but I needed my "me" time.

As I said, we are all selfish to some degree. And I am no exception.

Shit Morons Say ... about rape victims.

“Stay alert, walk tall, carry mace, take self-defence classes & don’t dress like a whore.”

These insensitive and the last part moronic, words of wisdom were uttered by Krista Ford in a tweet. (It really seems fitting in her case that someone who uses twitter is called a twit.) Krista is the niece of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford. But that isn't the cunning stunts only claim to fame. She was also a member of the Toronto team in the Lingerie Football League. Not much of a claim to fame, eh?

Krista's tweet was in response to a news conference Toronto Police held Wednesday about six recent sexual assaults in the west end. In those cases six young women were all attacked from behind as they walked at night. She followed the tweet up with the hash tags  #DontBeAVictim and #StreetSmart. What a fucktard.

One of the rape victims decided to speak out after Ford made her tweeted. She posted it on Facebook and Twitter and it went viral from there.

Dear a lot of people, but specifically Ms. Krista Ford,

In advance I’d like to say I am sorry. This is not the ideal situation to first acquaint oneself with someone and I am mortified. Sorry! However, under the circumstance, I feel like you owe me a moment of your time, even though we’ve never meet.

The circumstance being you called me a whore.

I should clarify: I’m one of the victims of the recent string of sexual assaults in the Annex. ‘Sup? It’s nice to make you acquaintance.

So, you’ve called me a whore. Here we are. This is awkward now, isn’t it? You’re probably wondering if I’m going to challenge you on having been a member of Lingerie League. I’m not, because I’d never slut-shame another woman. I believe you have a right to your body and regardless of how you do or don’t dress it I believe you have a right to respect and personal security. I guess that’s the key difference in our thinking. You could wear a t-shirt that says “I’m literally asking for it” and I’d still advocate for your security.

That’s what I’m asking for this brief moment of your day, for your edification. You’re a woman and you should know that your body is yours and yours alone. No matter how you dress it, you have a right — an actual Charter of Rights and Freedom right — to not be sexually assaulted. You are entitled to life, liberty and the security of person. Welcome to Canada — you live here! If you weren’t aware of your Charter rights, other Canadian things you may have missed out on are double-doubles, good maple syrup, and Beachcombers*, so check that s— out.

For the record, I was sexually assaulted while wearing a knee-length polka-dot dress. The last time I wore that dress, it was to Easter dinner at my Gran’s, where I’m fairly certain I could make little to no money whoring.

With due respect / sorry,

Alice Moran

Canadian / Comedian / Beachcombers Enthusiast

*I love Beachcombers.

Out of respect for Ms. Moran I won't tackle the hypocrisy of Ms. Ford when it comes to styles of dress. Considering her  (Krista Ford) previous "sports" career and choice of dress she has REALLY put herself out there to be ridiculed for her hypocrisy.

As with most of these kinds of morons Krista apologized. Sort of. On Thursday she posted a tweet AFTER the afore mentioned  reply from one of the victims.

“I didn’t mean to cause such an alarm and I apologize if I did. I just want women to be safe.”

Cause such alarm? How could you possibly cause alarm? All you did was tell rapists that their victims are nothing but whores. Fucktard.

How about you are sorry that your comment was so fucktardic and insensitive? Of course not, that would be taking responsibility. Instead she apologizes IF her comments caused any alarm. Her Uncle claims it was a mistake. Uncle Bobby went on to say;

“It’s a mistake she made. She regrets it, she apologizes for it. She’s very young, right, so we were all young and we all did things we regret when we were younger. “She apologizes and we have to move on now.”

I am sure your comments will help the rape victims being characterized as whores by your Niece, Rob. I see being a moron runs in your family.

It was a fucking huge mistake. One that deserves a proper apology. (Hell, I wouldn't even characterize Krista's last tweet as an actual apology.) While she may be young she is also SUPPOSED to be an adult and needs to act like one.

Krista has since made access to her Twitter feed private. If we ever hear from her again hopefully it because she is making a proper and sincere apology.

Todd Akins, Kees van der Staaij, and now Krista Ford. Morons hell bent on proving what is already known, morons are universal and keep raising the bar of what is fucktardic.

Shit Morons Say ... about rape.

"From what I understand from doctors, that's really rare," said Akin said of pregnancy caused by rape. "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let's assume maybe that didn't work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist."

Wow. It is hard to believe that in this day and age there is someone this fucking stupid. Yet, there you have Todd Akin, U.S. Senatorial Candidate, in all his idiotic glory. Yes, he did recant, somewhat if at all, but never admitted he was wrong. According to Akin he simply misspoke.

Todd Akin isn't some neophyte to the political arena. He served as a Congressman since 2001. Now he is running for the Senate for the Republican party. What makes his comments even stupider is that he actually sat on the Congressional Science, Space, and Technology Committee. Seriously?!?!? Someone with this little a lack of knowledge of science sat on that committee?

Just to prove that idiocy like this is not an America only thing, a Dutch candidate, Kees van der Staaij, the leader of a Christian Fundamentalist party, spoke out agreeing with Akin. Maybe it is a Christian Fundamentalist thing?

What a bunch of fucking morons.

Bringing on the hate.

I tend to get a laugh out of the people who post death threats or attacks in the comment section. For the most part they are pretty pathetic. To top it off, the posters seem to think that I would actually care about what they have said.

Seriously. I don't know you. Why would I care that some anonymous fucktard made a post on What The Kimchi saying ...

Die fag!

You mad? Yes, you mad. And butt hurt.

fuck off cunt. Hope you get sodomized with a retractable baton

foad thx.

whitey fight whitey! kill youself!

Or on Flint's follies ...

hockey sucks try a real sport

Get a life fag!

u should die wit ur uncle

racist fuck

Do they honestly think their comments will actually mean anything to me? They are just another anonymous asshole trolling around. That is all. In the grand scheme of things they mean ... nothing. In my life they mean ... nothing. They must believe I have a REALLY low sense of self-esteem. Or their sense of self-importance is just THAT big.

Oooooh. Some fucktard I don't know said fuck off to me. Some fucktard I don't know told me to die. Whoopie shit. It is just words from someone who means nothing to me. Often words that are poorly spelled.

To paraphrase what I said in my post about slights, if I let every little comment from every little idiot bother me I would be in a bell tower shooting people.

So, to the fucktards, keep it up. Your comments don't bother me. They let me know that even though you mean nothing to me, my words piss you off. THAT makes me feel good. And when I am bored they give me something to do. Like right now. And I thank you.

Are you not entertained?!?!?!? :)

What the ... Popeye's reference?!?!?

So, I am watching the latest, for me, episode of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. He is in Penang and talking to a guy he has known for a while. Apologetically he mentions he had Popeye's chicken in the morning and I am immediately offended.

What the ... kimchi?!?!? He dissed Popeye's? Or did he? Fuck him! Popeye's holds fond memories from Korea and childhood. You just can't get it in Canada, at least not in the Maritime region.

When I was a kid travelling with my dad Popeye's was a treat we only got when he had a trip to the US. You just can't find it around here. The Maritime region if you are actually following what I type. I remember it best on the Massachusetts Turnpike. It was spicy, chickeny, and fast.

When I lived in South Korea and found Popeye's Chicken I was blissed out. It was a taste of comfort. It was something I treated myself to once a week. I had to earn it by not eating it more than once a week.  And I didn't. The spicy chicken and the buttermilk biscuits were ... joy.

Stig and I would enjoy a weekend afternoon with Popeye's. Buy some. Go to the Dunkin Donuts patio and get a coffee. Eat the chicken lunch. Drink the coffee with a cigar. Life was DAMN DAMN DAMN good. I miss those weekends. God damn I miss those times.

Ah Popeye's. I do miss you.

Dealing with death and life.

The last 24 hours has been hard to deal with at times.

We got a call last night that one of my Uncle's, B, was rushed into surgery. He has diabetes and suffered a heart attack earlier this year and nearly died. Luckily, he recovered from it for the most part. One of his feet got infected a few months ago and never recovered. The infection was so bad that last night they had to amputate his left leg below the knee. He got through the surgery but we haven't heard any word on his recovery yet.

This afternoon, at work, I found out that a co-worker, O, died. He was Japanese-Canadian and a fairly quiet man. we would talk sometimes and once we started he always had a hello and a smile when we met. A few times we talked about life in Asia. We had some similar likes and dislikes. Work is going to be a darker place without him.

I had to deal with things like that when I lived in Korea. Family and friends dying or being hurt and nothing I could do. It was hard but being home, and not being able to do anything, is harder. O's dying has hit me hard. My Uncle's current condition probably made it harder than it would have.

Such is life. The bad times make you treasure the good.

Don't Shit Where you Eat!

I always thought the phrase "Don't Shit Where You Eat" was a good one. It is one I put into practice since ... damn ... since I first started working. I don't date co-workers. If things go pear shaped it usually makes life at work difficult. There have been several times I was tempted but I managed to resist.

Proof of the validity of the belief showed itself yet again. A friend of mine got involved with a co-worker, different department, about 8 or 9 months ago. Things went along well for a while. Then they had some bumps. He treated her like shit. They got back together.

Last week she found out he cheated on her with someone in his department. (Turns out this wasn't the first time either. He had cheated on her months ago with someone in yet another department. But I digress.) When confronted he lied about it. Tried to make her feel guilty. The one he cheated with and is now dating admitted it. Sent her threatening Facebook messages. And it is all spilling over into the work place.

Now when she goes to work she sees them there. Together and apart. It stresses her out and makes her feel like shit. All of them are giving their side to anyone who will listen. It makes for an unhealthy work environment.

All of this could have been avoided if she didn't shit where she eats.

I wrote a post about punctuality and put it on What The Kimchi. It is one of those posts that could fit on either blog. I figured it wouldn't hurt to mention it here. ;)

Mook of the Week

I took my mother to CostCo this morning to pick up some odds and sods. When I parked there weren't a lot of cars around and I saw a red Subaru Legacy about 6 or 7 spots to my left. What made it stick out was the dog looking out the window at me.  (And the shitty parking job in an empty area of the lot.) Well, not OUT the window, it was only open a crack.

Yes, on a hot summer day some fucking mook left his dog in a car to go shopping. It was around 26 Celsius at the time. With the humidity they were saying it would feel like 32+.

I believe people like this should be stuck in a metal box exposed to the sun so they can get a taste of what the dog is feeling. At the least they should NOT be allowed to have a dog. Unfortunately, society frowns on us giving these fucktards what they deserve.

My mother insisted we tell the CostCo greeter about this and get them to do something. I knew they wouldn't. They aren't allowed. It would upset a customer. Sure enough, the greeter passed us on to someone else. He tried to mollify us but also said there was basically nothing he could do. They don't have any kind of intercom system in CostCo so they couldn't even page the mook.

So, I called the local SPCA and filed a complaint. They have mounted a campaign this year to get people to report assholes like CRK 232. some of the mooks were fined although I never have heard how many. But I digress.

When we left CostCo 30 minutes later the car was still there. Our windows were probably half open, which was a lot more than the mook's car windows for the dog. Inside our car was like a fucking sauna. I can only imagine how bad it was for the poor dog.

Luckily for the mook my mother doesn't like confrontation and I don't like upsetting her. Or I would have waited for him to come out. I THINK I saw the mook getting to his car as we were leaving the parking lot. If I did it is an older man, probably in his 50's.

I have 2 hopes right now. The first is that the Police and SPCA at least talk to the mook if not fine him. Secondly, I hope his kids ignore him as he gets older and he ends up abandoned in a place with no AC and suffers like he let the dog suffer.

Fucking mooks!

Shit Morons say ... after rear ending you.

"I didn't think you were going to stop."

For some reason we started talking about stupid drivers at work the other day. I was reminded of one mook I encountered when visiting home around 2004. (May have been 2003.)

I was meeting friends at Maxwell's Plum in Halifax and trying to find a parking spot. There were none on the street it is on and I was going around to try a back street. There was a stop sign at the intersection so of course I stopped.

Then there was a bang as my car was rear ended. I jumped out and checked the back of the car. There was barely a dent in bumper nothing to get worked up about. At least not until the moron driving the car opened her mouth and said

"I didn't think you were going to stop."

That pushed me over the edge of "happy it wasn't anything serious" and into "what a fucking moron". I pointed to the stop sign and said

"Of course, why would you expect me to stop at a stop sign."

I can't remember exactly what she said but it was something almost as stupid as her initial comment. I said

"Of course you didn't expect me to stop at a stop sign. My break lights were lit as I slowed to a stop. Why would you ever think I was going to stop. You definitely are blonde." (and she really was a blonde.)

With that I got back in my car and drove off to find a parking spot. She sat there fuming and I thankfully never saw her again.

Shit Morons Say ... that is wrong.

"Wait a minute. Who are you trying to defend against? You think China ... you think China is just going to come walking over ... you know fly in like they did at Pearl Harbour? No they are going to attack us through cyber-terrorism."

Mark Cuban on Real Time last Friday talking about "who" the US is defending against and how they will attack in the future. A strong well said for trying to put the focus on cyber-terrorism. A big FAIL for not knowing history.

Seriously, he thinks that China attacked Pearl Harbour? And here I was taught that Japan did that. So, if he believes China attacked the US at Pearl Harbour, getting the US into WW II, who the hell does he think is responsible for the Rape of Nanking?

Just because you are wealthy and/or a celebrity doesn't mean you know shit from shinola.

What the ... loud mouth?!?!?!?

So, I was really enjoying the game last night. A  Russian fan was sitting a lone in front of me. He was having a good time and showing it. The fans around us were having a good time. During the 1st intermission some of his comrades joined him, using up some empty seats to our right. They had the Commissar hats on, spetsnaz shirts, and a Russian flag.

As the 2nd started these guys were having a good time. Cheering for their team and feeling dejected when something went against their team. Just like every Canadian fan. Unfortunately, the fucktard behind me, and another to our left,  didn't like to see them enjoying themselves.

The moron behind me started whining about their flag waving. He didn't mind it when a Canadian flag obstructed his view of course. At one point he started chirping for them to sit down and put "that fucking flag away". Being me I had to tell him to shut the fuck up and just watch the game. He didn't seem to like that but listened. When the Russians went up 4-2 in the 2nd he started pissing and moaning, gathered his stuff up and left the game. What a fucking moron.

Then there was the fucktard to the left of us. He took great delight at yelling at the Russian fans when the Canadians scored or got an advantage. Shaking his finger at them and crowing like a mook at a mook convention. He was being pretty obnoxious. The Russians pretty much ignored his antics. I had talked with the guy in front of me during the 1st period and his English wasn't that good.

Fucktardo, it should be mentioned, had a lot of liquid courage in him. Even his friends were getting embarrassed by his stupidity. Canada managed to tie it up at 5 in the 3rd. Fucktardo started crowing and yelling at the Russians. "The game is going to end 6-5 ... for US! Fuck you comrade!"

At that point I had to say something. Fun is fun but he was just being too obnoxious. I somewhat politely asked him to sit down and shut the fuck up. I believe a please was included in there to make it polite. Then I said "You better not have jinxed the game for us by saying that."

In the end the Russians beat us ... 6-5. The first thing I did was curse out the fucktard for jinxing us. Even his friends chastised him. I will give some credit to the mook, by this point he realized how much of an ass he had been (the liquid courage was wearing off) and congratulated the Russian fans properly. That was nice to see after how much of an ass he had been.

I hope tonights game is as exciting. With less fucktards.

Canada -Russia Challenge Game 3

What a game. It makes me wish I had been able to see the 1st two that were played in Russia. Unfortunately work prevented that.

In one way, we lost 6-5, it was disappointing but overall it was an exciting. There were over 8000 people in the Metro Centre to watch. The Russians opened the scoring and while the game was tied at various points the Canadians never took the lead. At times the Canadians were on fire. Playing hard and with skill. At other times they seemed to lack drive and made too many give aways. Give aways that lead to Russian goals. The boys kept fighting back but the Russians proved to be too much.

Hopefully Game 4, tomorrow night, will be better for Canada. IF the team can win the game in regulation time it leaves the series tied at 2 games a piece. In the original 2 series any tie would lead to the winner being determined by the goal differential. If this was used it means Canada would have to beat Russia tomorrow by 5 goals to win the series.

This series is different though. If Canada can win in Regulation time it will lead to an overtime to determine the winner. I like that. :)

Here is hoping the boys can pull it off tomorrow night. I will be there cheering them on.

Olympic Boxing

I used to love watching boxing. I grew up during the Ali years. It was a sport, a spectacle, something interesting to see. Olympic boxing did me in. There have been so many controversial decisions in Olympic boxing that you can't help but think "the fix" was in. Either they only use the most incompetent refs around or something else is going on.

The 1988 Olympics were the end of my desire to watch any Olympic level boxing. It just seemed that Olympic after Olympic boxing officiating kept showing itself to be either inept or corrupt and nothing was done to fix it.

Move forward to the 2 Olympic boxing matches I watched today. All I had really wanted to see was the Custio Clayton, a local man, fight a British boxer.  The first Olympic boxing I have watched since the 88 Olympics. Unfortunately I got to watch the farce that took place before it. The first match saw a French boxer for some unknown reason lose.

Then came Clayton's match. He lost the first round 7-2. I can't say I agree with that but fine 7-2 it is. He dominated the next 2 rounds. In fact, the referee had to warn  Evan's, the British boxer, THREE times about pushing Clayton's head down. Now, in the real world, warning someone 3 times in a boxing match means an AUTOMATIC loss of points to the offenders. The ref decided to ignore that reality and push on.

The match ended in a tie. Which considering the aforementioned rule about warnings is ... strange. The match was given to the British boxer.

Canada appealed and that was quickly rejected. Even though the British boxer was warned 3 times with no penalty for that. Mind you that isn't Evan's fault and I hope he does well. It doesn't say a lot about Olympic boxing though.  Which is no big surprise.

I am going to go back to ignoring Olympic boxing. Too many fucktards are involved in running  and officiating it.

Mook of the Week

Mooks come in all shapes, sizes, and ages. A pair of old Mooks were in this car.

The lot was pretty much empty when we got there but these fucktards just had to park at the ENTRANCE of the parking lot. Blocking half of it off for those who would come to park.

Today was Natal Day and this area is just behind the parade route. Which makes it a much sought after place to park. This idiot made it harder for those coming and going.

The urge to key the car as I walked by was strong but I managed to resist it. Part of me hopes someone else didn't resist the urge.

Fucking mooks!

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!

This year is the 40th anniversary of the 1972 Canada-USSR Summit Series. To honour it a new series is being put on between the Canadian and Russian National Junior teams. It will take place here in Halifax and ... I picked up my tickets for both games last week.  :)

I had to wait for individual seats to go on sale so they aren't THE BEST seats. But damn it I am going so they are good regardless of where they are. :)

It is hard to wait the a week for the series to start. :)

Da Da Canada!!! Nyet Nyet Soviet!!!

What the ... twit?!?!?!?

Man o man did Twitter ever shoot itself in the foot. First they suspended the account of someone who criticized NBC's Olympic coverage. Then they reinstate it and apologize. Then it comes out that the fucktards at Twitter actually contacted NBC and suggested they file a complaint so the account could be suspended.

Now why would Twitter do this? Could it have anything to do with the fact that NBC's parent company is an Olympic Sponsor?

Me, I don't use twitter. Never have, dunno if I ever will. It just doesn't interest me that much. This BS just makes me want to use it even less. Now if only I could get Android to stop trying to force me to "update" my apps and add Twitter, and Facebook. I get a message a day about "updating" and adding these apps that I don't want.

Comfort Food for the Eyes

I got home from work dead tired and bone weary. It was a busy night. A lot of mooks were out and about and many came to where I work.

When I got home I took Grizzly for a walk. Some things take priority to being tired, and Grizz is one of them.

When I finally got to settle down and rest before thinking of sleep, which should have taken little thought, I flipped on the TV. Nothing was on. I surfed the channels figuring it would be early to bed when I came upon AMC. They were showing the old Black and White movie Tarzan and his  Mate starring Johnny Weissmuller and Maureen O'Sullivan!!!!

It is the sequel to Tarzan the Ape Man, starring Weissmuller, and one is a series of Tarzan movies he did. Once I started watching I couldn't stop. It brought me back to my childhood. On weekends when we lived in Ontario my school would show these old flicks for a low price.  Not to mention them being on TV.

The plots were simpler in some ways, and left more to your imagination in other ways. I forgot how much I used to idolize Tarzan because of these movies. It was a great way to end a night.

More Tarzan movies are coming on AMC but I do need to sleep. Time to do some judicious downloading. ;)

What the ... cheat?!?!?

I learned as a child that just because you can do something doesn't make it right. Evidently some Olympic athletes haven't learned that.

In the wake of the South Korean-Chinese-Indonesian cheating scandal in badminton we now have the antics of the British men's cycling team. After they won the gold one of the cyclists admitted that a team mate, Philip Hindes, deliberately crashed earlier in the competition so the qualifying round would be restarted.

Hindes, 19, suggested the crash was part of a deliberate ploy because the British team had made a poor start.

He said after winning gold: 'We were saying if we have a bad start, we need to crash to get a restart. I just crashed, I did it on purpose to get a restart, just to have the fastest ride. I did it. So it was all planned, really.'

The International Cycling Union confirmed that the incident had been reviewed at the time and the result was not in question - so all three British cyclists will keep their gold medals.

If that doesn't fall under the banner of poor sportsmanship I don't know what does. While the ICU feels it was within the rules that still doesn't make it right. Just as the badminton players cheated by not playing their best deliberately to affect who they would play next this action on the part of the Brits stinks. They should have been disqualified.

What to do?

A friend, mutual friend, asked me a question last week. He informed me that Hilda is coming to town later this month and asked what I will do if she contacts me. My answer was easy. Nothing, because she won't. It isn't her style. Unless she has finally changed her ways. Which would be a good thing because she wasn't an evil person, just a bad friend.

When I last talked to Hilda she had no clue what to do to salvage our friendship. That in itself was very telling and not unexpected. One of the problems with her is that nothing is ever her fault. It is always the other person who screwed up and has to make moves to patch things up. Whether that is reality or not.

There were only 2 things she had to do to maintain her friendship with me. Pretty simple things. First, once she actually knew what she did wrong sincerely apologize for it. Before knowing, she issued a blanket apology for whatever it was. Which is basic Hilda. Mind you it is something she would NEVER accept from anyone else. If you don't know what you are apologizing for the apology means nothing.

Secondly, she would have to have shown me that she was changing her ways. Hilda had become an extremely unreliable and bitchy person. You just couldn't count on her to be there, UNLESS she needed something from you. Other friends, like Spock, wrote her off years before I did because of this behaviour. She had also become way too bitchy and insulting. Often she would hide behind the excuse of "just being blunt". Of course to change her ways she would have to admit she did something wrong.

One thing I learned about Hilda over the years was that she rarely accepted responsibility when she lost friends. And she lost quite a few. She would rationalize to try and make herself innocent of anything that might have caused the rift. It was no use trying to point out what she did wrong to her.

Some of her last words to me were "Well, I can't think of anything else I can do."

And that was the moment when I said enough is enough. If a person has to be told they should give a sincere apology anything they say would be meaningless. I knew she wasn't going to change and that was the end of the friendship.

Or, as she told Stig, I threw our friendship away. Because nothing is ever her fault in any way. It is always others.

If she contacts me while she is here I wouldn't tell her to fuck off. But she would have to show she had changed before any friendship could be renewed. Not that I actually expect to hear from her. That would be completely out of character for her. If she did it would be a good sign that she has changed.

Shit Morons Say ... on TV.

"Now I know what it feels like to be dead."

So, I am channel surfing and end up on Travel and Escape. A show called Ghost Adventures is on. It is a "reality" show in the vein of Ghost Hunters. A guy, Nick, is in the morgue in a "drawer" where bodies were stored when he makes that comment.

Really? You know what it feels like to be dead because you are locked in the dark in a confined space? If you are  living, breathing, and whining on a radio to your friends to get you out then you still don't know what it is like to be dead.

Or do you?

Facebook Follies

As I mentioned in a previous post, the Facebook ads targeting me are almost as amusing as the KKKluckers over at Korean Sentry. They tend to be dating related. Whether a dating site. Dating aids. Shit like that.

It isn't just the ads per se that remind me of the KKKluckers. The HORRIBLE English also reminds me of idiots like Herr Consoleman. Just look at the screen snap I took of three ads.

The first one is for dating aids. A dating technique site that allow you to "Get Laid Any Woman!" Or is it? I followed the URL to find that the English in the ad is SO BAD that what you would think is some sort of dating technique site is really a fashion and beauty site. What a fucking let down. :)

Then there is D.I.Y Solar Panels. I don't know if the woman turned her tits into solar panels if not what the fuck is she doing in the ad? I went to the URL provided and it really is for a company to buy solar panels from in Australia.

Then there is Give Single Moms A Chance. The English isn't as bad as the first ad. In fact it isn't bad at all. It is just an ad that OFTEN pops up.

Oh Facebook, you really suck at times. :)

Is it really so hard to listen to what someone says?

I got life insurance when I was in my mid-20's. My father died without any and it left Mom in a tight spot. Not an impossible one, but a tight one. I never wanted to make that mistake.

Our neighbour across the street, Gary, worked for Mutual. He set me up with a policy that was perfect for me. It cost about $25 a month and gave $50,000 in coverage. Mutual ended up merging with Sun. I believe it is now Sun-Life.  The policy left my thoughts, much as the monthly payment left my account.

Gary ended up leaving Sun-Life and someone else took over my account. He came to me around the 5th year of the policy and talked about upgrading it. At the time I thought I knew a hell of a lot more than I actually did and I let him talk me into changing the policy. It was supposed to still allow for upgrades every so many years (5  I believe) to increase coverage. It was supposed to cost the same amount Being full of my own youth I jumped at it.

Up comes the time for upgrading and my agent dutifully showed up for a visit. It was a new agent new, SS. I decided to take advantage of the option and increase my benefit to $100,000. It would mean increasing my payment to $40 which I had no problem with. My disillusionment began after getting my paperwork from them in the mail.

SS had failed to properly explain some things. Like the fact it wasn't a simple Life Insurance policy. My payment would have to increase over time. He also failed to tell me they would take $600 out of my built up money to pay administrative fees for the upgrade. God knows it was so expensive to get someone to type a few keys and put it through.

My unhappiness with the policy continued but then I moved to South Korea. The policy was the furthest thing from my mind. A few times I received email from SS about this or that. A few times I emailed him questions but never received answers.

When I was home in  2005 he came to see me. He was pushing another upgrade to the policy. I wasn't interested. He told me that I would have to start increasing my payment or it would start eating into my "savings". That didn't sounds anything like my original policy. What savings? Instead of just increasing my coverage my policy had been changed to a whole life kind of policy. Nice but NOT what I wanted. In the end I agreed to up my payment and decide what I wanted to do later. It was easier to push it off and go back to Korea. So I gave him the voided check and authorized increasing the payment to $60.

I went back to Korea expecting to pay more and worry about everything when I came home. SS evidently never processed the paperwork because the extra money wasn't taken out. Which meant i could go back to not giving a shit about it until I moved back home.

From about 2008 on I got letters from Sun-Life a couple of times a year saying I had to increase my payment or it would start eating into my money. Since I wasn't actually in Canada I didn't get the letters. Having given SS my mailing address in South Korea evidently meant nothing. Nor did email requests asking about this.

I met with SS about 3-4 months after returning to Canada in 2010. He was once again pushing an increase to my coverage. Barring that he was pushing me to buy a couple of $50,000 policies to "build up my coverage in case of death". At that time I wasn't working and still didn't know what would be happening. Would I return to South Korea or not? He also pushed for an increase in my payment but gave vague answers when pushed about it.

I haven't heard from SS since 2010. Today I heard from his office. I don't know if it was another "dealer" or a secretary. Nor do I care. She called on his behalf to see how I was doing and set up an appointment. I told her I was glad to hear from them because, now that I have some time off, I was planning on cancelling my coverage. That seemed to surprise her.

So, I told her some of the whys and wherefores. The main one being, when my original policy was started it was supposed to be around $20. I agreed to $40. I agreed to $60 but only $40 is being taken. Yet I keep getting these letters, which have never been fully addressed by SS, saying I now need to pay around $105.

She started saying "But I see here you are only paying $40 a month."

I reply "Yes, but for the last few years I have been getting letters saying I need to increase my payment to $105."

"You are only paying $40 a month now." She parroted.

"Yes, but I keep getting these letters saying I should be paying $105."

"Only $40 is coming out a month."

At that point the snark came out. "Are you listening to what I am saying? I KNOW $40 is coming out. It was supposed to be $60 as of 2005. I keep getting letters saying it should be $105."

She was silent for a minute and then made the mistake of repeating herself. "You are only paying ...."

I cut her off and said "I am off the next few days and will be in to cancel my policy. I can get a policy for $40 a month elsewhere that will give me $100,000 in coverage. Without the BS."

"Oh, you should talk to SS. He will be back in the office in a two weeks."

"Really? I can't cancel my policy without going through him?"

"No. But you could talk to him."

"So I can pay for another month of coverage that I don't want? Right. Bye." And I hung up.

I was civil until she kept repeating herself about the monthly payment. It is kind of funny that she could "see" that they were only taking $40 a month out of my bank account but couldn't "see" that they mailed me a few times a year asking for a higher payment. If she hadn't been so ... hmmm is obtuse the appropriate word? ... I would have at least seen if they would give the same policy I have been looking at elsewhere. But she kept being an idiot. So I will go elsewhere.
