Shit Morons Say ... about rape victims.

“Stay alert, walk tall, carry mace, take self-defence classes & don’t dress like a whore.”

These insensitive and the last part moronic, words of wisdom were uttered by Krista Ford in a tweet. (It really seems fitting in her case that someone who uses twitter is called a twit.) Krista is the niece of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford. But that isn't the cunning stunts only claim to fame. She was also a member of the Toronto team in the Lingerie Football League. Not much of a claim to fame, eh?

Krista's tweet was in response to a news conference Toronto Police held Wednesday about six recent sexual assaults in the west end. In those cases six young women were all attacked from behind as they walked at night. She followed the tweet up with the hash tags  #DontBeAVictim and #StreetSmart. What a fucktard.

One of the rape victims decided to speak out after Ford made her tweeted. She posted it on Facebook and Twitter and it went viral from there.

Dear a lot of people, but specifically Ms. Krista Ford,

In advance I’d like to say I am sorry. This is not the ideal situation to first acquaint oneself with someone and I am mortified. Sorry! However, under the circumstance, I feel like you owe me a moment of your time, even though we’ve never meet.

The circumstance being you called me a whore.

I should clarify: I’m one of the victims of the recent string of sexual assaults in the Annex. ‘Sup? It’s nice to make you acquaintance.

So, you’ve called me a whore. Here we are. This is awkward now, isn’t it? You’re probably wondering if I’m going to challenge you on having been a member of Lingerie League. I’m not, because I’d never slut-shame another woman. I believe you have a right to your body and regardless of how you do or don’t dress it I believe you have a right to respect and personal security. I guess that’s the key difference in our thinking. You could wear a t-shirt that says “I’m literally asking for it” and I’d still advocate for your security.

That’s what I’m asking for this brief moment of your day, for your edification. You’re a woman and you should know that your body is yours and yours alone. No matter how you dress it, you have a right — an actual Charter of Rights and Freedom right — to not be sexually assaulted. You are entitled to life, liberty and the security of person. Welcome to Canada — you live here! If you weren’t aware of your Charter rights, other Canadian things you may have missed out on are double-doubles, good maple syrup, and Beachcombers*, so check that s— out.

For the record, I was sexually assaulted while wearing a knee-length polka-dot dress. The last time I wore that dress, it was to Easter dinner at my Gran’s, where I’m fairly certain I could make little to no money whoring.

With due respect / sorry,

Alice Moran

Canadian / Comedian / Beachcombers Enthusiast

*I love Beachcombers.

Out of respect for Ms. Moran I won't tackle the hypocrisy of Ms. Ford when it comes to styles of dress. Considering her  (Krista Ford) previous "sports" career and choice of dress she has REALLY put herself out there to be ridiculed for her hypocrisy.

As with most of these kinds of morons Krista apologized. Sort of. On Thursday she posted a tweet AFTER the afore mentioned  reply from one of the victims.

“I didn’t mean to cause such an alarm and I apologize if I did. I just want women to be safe.”

Cause such alarm? How could you possibly cause alarm? All you did was tell rapists that their victims are nothing but whores. Fucktard.

How about you are sorry that your comment was so fucktardic and insensitive? Of course not, that would be taking responsibility. Instead she apologizes IF her comments caused any alarm. Her Uncle claims it was a mistake. Uncle Bobby went on to say;

“It’s a mistake she made. She regrets it, she apologizes for it. She’s very young, right, so we were all young and we all did things we regret when we were younger. “She apologizes and we have to move on now.”

I am sure your comments will help the rape victims being characterized as whores by your Niece, Rob. I see being a moron runs in your family.

It was a fucking huge mistake. One that deserves a proper apology. (Hell, I wouldn't even characterize Krista's last tweet as an actual apology.) While she may be young she is also SUPPOSED to be an adult and needs to act like one.

Krista has since made access to her Twitter feed private. If we ever hear from her again hopefully it because she is making a proper and sincere apology.

Todd Akins, Kees van der Staaij, and now Krista Ford. Morons hell bent on proving what is already known, morons are universal and keep raising the bar of what is fucktardic.

Shit Morons Say ... about rape.

"From what I understand from doctors, that's really rare," said Akin said of pregnancy caused by rape. "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let's assume maybe that didn't work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist."

Wow. It is hard to believe that in this day and age there is someone this fucking stupid. Yet, there you have Todd Akin, U.S. Senatorial Candidate, in all his idiotic glory. Yes, he did recant, somewhat if at all, but never admitted he was wrong. According to Akin he simply misspoke.

Todd Akin isn't some neophyte to the political arena. He served as a Congressman since 2001. Now he is running for the Senate for the Republican party. What makes his comments even stupider is that he actually sat on the Congressional Science, Space, and Technology Committee. Seriously?!?!? Someone with this little a lack of knowledge of science sat on that committee?

Just to prove that idiocy like this is not an America only thing, a Dutch candidate, Kees van der Staaij, the leader of a Christian Fundamentalist party, spoke out agreeing with Akin. Maybe it is a Christian Fundamentalist thing?

What a bunch of fucking morons.

Bringing on the hate.

I tend to get a laugh out of the people who post death threats or attacks in the comment section. For the most part they are pretty pathetic. To top it off, the posters seem to think that I would actually care about what they have said.

Seriously. I don't know you. Why would I care that some anonymous fucktard made a post on What The Kimchi saying ...

Die fag!

You mad? Yes, you mad. And butt hurt.

fuck off cunt. Hope you get sodomized with a retractable baton

foad thx.

whitey fight whitey! kill youself!

Or on Flint's follies ...

hockey sucks try a real sport

Get a life fag!

u should die wit ur uncle

racist fuck

Do they honestly think their comments will actually mean anything to me? They are just another anonymous asshole trolling around. That is all. In the grand scheme of things they mean ... nothing. In my life they mean ... nothing. They must believe I have a REALLY low sense of self-esteem. Or their sense of self-importance is just THAT big.

Oooooh. Some fucktard I don't know said fuck off to me. Some fucktard I don't know told me to die. Whoopie shit. It is just words from someone who means nothing to me. Often words that are poorly spelled.

To paraphrase what I said in my post about slights, if I let every little comment from every little idiot bother me I would be in a bell tower shooting people.

So, to the fucktards, keep it up. Your comments don't bother me. They let me know that even though you mean nothing to me, my words piss you off. THAT makes me feel good. And when I am bored they give me something to do. Like right now. And I thank you.

Are you not entertained?!?!?!? :)

What the ... Popeye's reference?!?!?

So, I am watching the latest, for me, episode of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. He is in Penang and talking to a guy he has known for a while. Apologetically he mentions he had Popeye's chicken in the morning and I am immediately offended.

What the ... kimchi?!?!? He dissed Popeye's? Or did he? Fuck him! Popeye's holds fond memories from Korea and childhood. You just can't get it in Canada, at least not in the Maritime region.

When I was a kid travelling with my dad Popeye's was a treat we only got when he had a trip to the US. You just can't find it around here. The Maritime region if you are actually following what I type. I remember it best on the Massachusetts Turnpike. It was spicy, chickeny, and fast.

When I lived in South Korea and found Popeye's Chicken I was blissed out. It was a taste of comfort. It was something I treated myself to once a week. I had to earn it by not eating it more than once a week.  And I didn't. The spicy chicken and the buttermilk biscuits were ... joy.

Stig and I would enjoy a weekend afternoon with Popeye's. Buy some. Go to the Dunkin Donuts patio and get a coffee. Eat the chicken lunch. Drink the coffee with a cigar. Life was DAMN DAMN DAMN good. I miss those weekends. God damn I miss those times.

Ah Popeye's. I do miss you.

Dealing with death and life.

The last 24 hours has been hard to deal with at times.

We got a call last night that one of my Uncle's, B, was rushed into surgery. He has diabetes and suffered a heart attack earlier this year and nearly died. Luckily, he recovered from it for the most part. One of his feet got infected a few months ago and never recovered. The infection was so bad that last night they had to amputate his left leg below the knee. He got through the surgery but we haven't heard any word on his recovery yet.

This afternoon, at work, I found out that a co-worker, O, died. He was Japanese-Canadian and a fairly quiet man. we would talk sometimes and once we started he always had a hello and a smile when we met. A few times we talked about life in Asia. We had some similar likes and dislikes. Work is going to be a darker place without him.

I had to deal with things like that when I lived in Korea. Family and friends dying or being hurt and nothing I could do. It was hard but being home, and not being able to do anything, is harder. O's dying has hit me hard. My Uncle's current condition probably made it harder than it would have.

Such is life. The bad times make you treasure the good.

Don't Shit Where you Eat!

I always thought the phrase "Don't Shit Where You Eat" was a good one. It is one I put into practice since ... damn ... since I first started working. I don't date co-workers. If things go pear shaped it usually makes life at work difficult. There have been several times I was tempted but I managed to resist.

Proof of the validity of the belief showed itself yet again. A friend of mine got involved with a co-worker, different department, about 8 or 9 months ago. Things went along well for a while. Then they had some bumps. He treated her like shit. They got back together.

Last week she found out he cheated on her with someone in his department. (Turns out this wasn't the first time either. He had cheated on her months ago with someone in yet another department. But I digress.) When confronted he lied about it. Tried to make her feel guilty. The one he cheated with and is now dating admitted it. Sent her threatening Facebook messages. And it is all spilling over into the work place.

Now when she goes to work she sees them there. Together and apart. It stresses her out and makes her feel like shit. All of them are giving their side to anyone who will listen. It makes for an unhealthy work environment.

All of this could have been avoided if she didn't shit where she eats.

Punctuality

I wrote a post about punctuality and put it on What The Kimchi. It is one of those posts that could fit on either blog. I figured it wouldn't hurt to mention it here. ;)

Mook of the Week

I took my mother to CostCo this morning to pick up some odds and sods. When I parked there weren't a lot of cars around and I saw a red Subaru Legacy about 6 or 7 spots to my left. What made it stick out was the dog looking out the window at me.  (And the shitty parking job in an empty area of the lot.) Well, not OUT the window, it was only open a crack.

Yes, on a hot summer day some fucking mook left his dog in a car to go shopping. It was around 26 Celsius at the time. With the humidity they were saying it would feel like 32+.

I believe people like this should be stuck in a metal box exposed to the sun so they can get a taste of what the dog is feeling. At the least they should NOT be allowed to have a dog. Unfortunately, society frowns on us giving these fucktards what they deserve.

My mother insisted we tell the CostCo greeter about this and get them to do something. I knew they wouldn't. They aren't allowed. It would upset a customer. Sure enough, the greeter passed us on to someone else. He tried to mollify us but also said there was basically nothing he could do. They don't have any kind of intercom system in CostCo so they couldn't even page the mook.

So, I called the local SPCA and filed a complaint. They have mounted a campaign this year to get people to report assholes like CRK 232. some of the mooks were fined although I never have heard how many. But I digress.

When we left CostCo 30 minutes later the car was still there. Our windows were probably half open, which was a lot more than the mook's car windows for the dog. Inside our car was like a fucking sauna. I can only imagine how bad it was for the poor dog.

Luckily for the mook my mother doesn't like confrontation and I don't like upsetting her. Or I would have waited for him to come out. I THINK I saw the mook getting to his car as we were leaving the parking lot. If I did it is an older man, probably in his 50's.

I have 2 hopes right now. The first is that the Police and SPCA at least talk to the mook if not fine him. Secondly, I hope his kids ignore him as he gets older and he ends up abandoned in a place with no AC and suffers like he let the dog suffer.

Fucking mooks!

Shit Morons say ... after rear ending you.

"I didn't think you were going to stop."

For some reason we started talking about stupid drivers at work the other day. I was reminded of one mook I encountered when visiting home around 2004. (May have been 2003.)

I was meeting friends at Maxwell's Plum in Halifax and trying to find a parking spot. There were none on the street it is on and I was going around to try a back street. There was a stop sign at the intersection so of course I stopped.

Then there was a bang as my car was rear ended. I jumped out and checked the back of the car. There was barely a dent in bumper nothing to get worked up about. At least not until the moron driving the car opened her mouth and said

"I didn't think you were going to stop."

That pushed me over the edge of "happy it wasn't anything serious" and into "what a fucking moron". I pointed to the stop sign and said

"Of course, why would you expect me to stop at a stop sign."

I can't remember exactly what she said but it was something almost as stupid as her initial comment. I said

"Of course you didn't expect me to stop at a stop sign. My break lights were lit as I slowed to a stop. Why would you ever think I was going to stop. You definitely are blonde." (and she really was a blonde.)

With that I got back in my car and drove off to find a parking spot. She sat there fuming and I thankfully never saw her again.

Shit Morons Say ... that is wrong.

"Wait a minute. Who are you trying to defend against? You think China ... you think China is just going to come walking over ... you know fly in like they did at Pearl Harbour? No they are going to attack us through cyber-terrorism."

Mark Cuban on Real Time last Friday talking about "who" the US is defending against and how they will attack in the future. A strong well said for trying to put the focus on cyber-terrorism. A big FAIL for not knowing history.

Seriously, he thinks that China attacked Pearl Harbour? And here I was taught that Japan did that. So, if he believes China attacked the US at Pearl Harbour, getting the US into WW II, who the hell does he think is responsible for the Rape of Nanking?

Just because you are wealthy and/or a celebrity doesn't mean you know shit from shinola.

What the ... loud mouth?!?!?!?

So, I was really enjoying the game last night. A  Russian fan was sitting a lone in front of me. He was having a good time and showing it. The fans around us were having a good time. During the 1st intermission some of his comrades joined him, using up some empty seats to our right. They had the Commissar hats on, spetsnaz shirts, and a Russian flag.

As the 2nd started these guys were having a good time. Cheering for their team and feeling dejected when something went against their team. Just like every Canadian fan. Unfortunately, the fucktard behind me, and another to our left,  didn't like to see them enjoying themselves.

The moron behind me started whining about their flag waving. He didn't mind it when a Canadian flag obstructed his view of course. At one point he started chirping for them to sit down and put "that fucking flag away". Being me I had to tell him to shut the fuck up and just watch the game. He didn't seem to like that but listened. When the Russians went up 4-2 in the 2nd he started pissing and moaning, gathered his stuff up and left the game. What a fucking moron.

Then there was the fucktard to the left of us. He took great delight at yelling at the Russian fans when the Canadians scored or got an advantage. Shaking his finger at them and crowing like a mook at a mook convention. He was being pretty obnoxious. The Russians pretty much ignored his antics. I had talked with the guy in front of me during the 1st period and his English wasn't that good.

Fucktardo, it should be mentioned, had a lot of liquid courage in him. Even his friends were getting embarrassed by his stupidity. Canada managed to tie it up at 5 in the 3rd. Fucktardo started crowing and yelling at the Russians. "The game is going to end 6-5 ... for US! Fuck you comrade!"

At that point I had to say something. Fun is fun but he was just being too obnoxious. I somewhat politely asked him to sit down and shut the fuck up. I believe a please was included in there to make it polite. Then I said "You better not have jinxed the game for us by saying that."

In the end the Russians beat us ... 6-5. The first thing I did was curse out the fucktard for jinxing us. Even his friends chastised him. I will give some credit to the mook, by this point he realized how much of an ass he had been (the liquid courage was wearing off) and congratulated the Russian fans properly. That was nice to see after how much of an ass he had been.

I hope tonights game is as exciting. With less fucktards.

Canada -Russia Challenge Game 3

What a game. It makes me wish I had been able to see the 1st two that were played in Russia. Unfortunately work prevented that.

In one way, we lost 6-5, it was disappointing but overall it was an exciting. There were over 8000 people in the Metro Centre to watch. The Russians opened the scoring and while the game was tied at various points the Canadians never took the lead. At times the Canadians were on fire. Playing hard and with skill. At other times they seemed to lack drive and made too many give aways. Give aways that lead to Russian goals. The boys kept fighting back but the Russians proved to be too much.

Hopefully Game 4, tomorrow night, will be better for Canada. IF the team can win the game in regulation time it leaves the series tied at 2 games a piece. In the original 2 series any tie would lead to the winner being determined by the goal differential. If this was used it means Canada would have to beat Russia tomorrow by 5 goals to win the series.

This series is different though. If Canada can win in Regulation time it will lead to an overtime to determine the winner. I like that. :)

Here is hoping the boys can pull it off tomorrow night. I will be there cheering them on.

Olympic Boxing

I used to love watching boxing. I grew up during the Ali years. It was a sport, a spectacle, something interesting to see. Olympic boxing did me in. There have been so many controversial decisions in Olympic boxing that you can't help but think "the fix" was in. Either they only use the most incompetent refs around or something else is going on.

The 1988 Olympics were the end of my desire to watch any Olympic level boxing. It just seemed that Olympic after Olympic boxing officiating kept showing itself to be either inept or corrupt and nothing was done to fix it.

Move forward to the 2 Olympic boxing matches I watched today. All I had really wanted to see was the Custio Clayton, a local man, fight a British boxer.  The first Olympic boxing I have watched since the 88 Olympics. Unfortunately I got to watch the farce that took place before it. The first match saw a French boxer for some unknown reason lose.

Then came Clayton's match. He lost the first round 7-2. I can't say I agree with that but fine 7-2 it is. He dominated the next 2 rounds. In fact, the referee had to warn  Evan's, the British boxer, THREE times about pushing Clayton's head down. Now, in the real world, warning someone 3 times in a boxing match means an AUTOMATIC loss of points to the offenders. The ref decided to ignore that reality and push on.

The match ended in a tie. Which considering the aforementioned rule about warnings is ... strange. The match was given to the British boxer.

Canada appealed and that was quickly rejected. Even though the British boxer was warned 3 times with no penalty for that. Mind you that isn't Evan's fault and I hope he does well. It doesn't say a lot about Olympic boxing though.  Which is no big surprise.

I am going to go back to ignoring Olympic boxing. Too many fucktards are involved in running  and officiating it.

Mook of the Week

Mooks come in all shapes, sizes, and ages. A pair of old Mooks were in this car.

The lot was pretty much empty when we got there but these fucktards just had to park at the ENTRANCE of the parking lot. Blocking half of it off for those who would come to park.

Today was Natal Day and this area is just behind the parade route. Which makes it a much sought after place to park. This idiot made it harder for those coming and going.

The urge to key the car as I walked by was strong but I managed to resist it. Part of me hopes someone else didn't resist the urge.

Fucking mooks!

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!

This year is the 40th anniversary of the 1972 Canada-USSR Summit Series. To honour it a new series is being put on between the Canadian and Russian National Junior teams. It will take place here in Halifax and ... I picked up my tickets for both games last week.  :)

I had to wait for individual seats to go on sale so they aren't THE BEST seats. But damn it I am going so they are good regardless of where they are. :)

It is hard to wait the a week for the series to start. :)

Da Da Canada!!! Nyet Nyet Soviet!!!

What the ... twit?!?!?!?

Man o man did Twitter ever shoot itself in the foot. First they suspended the account of someone who criticized NBC's Olympic coverage. Then they reinstate it and apologize. Then it comes out that the fucktards at Twitter actually contacted NBC and suggested they file a complaint so the account could be suspended.

Now why would Twitter do this? Could it have anything to do with the fact that NBC's parent company is an Olympic Sponsor?

Me, I don't use twitter. Never have, dunno if I ever will. It just doesn't interest me that much. This BS just makes me want to use it even less. Now if only I could get Android to stop trying to force me to "update" my apps and add Twitter, and Facebook. I get a message a day about "updating" and adding these apps that I don't want.

Comfort Food for the Eyes

I got home from work dead tired and bone weary. It was a busy night. A lot of mooks were out and about and many came to where I work.

When I got home I took Grizzly for a walk. Some things take priority to being tired, and Grizz is one of them.

When I finally got to settle down and rest before thinking of sleep, which should have taken little thought, I flipped on the TV. Nothing was on. I surfed the channels figuring it would be early to bed when I came upon AMC. They were showing the old Black and White movie Tarzan and his  Mate starring Johnny Weissmuller and Maureen O'Sullivan!!!!

It is the sequel to Tarzan the Ape Man, starring Weissmuller, and one is a series of Tarzan movies he did. Once I started watching I couldn't stop. It brought me back to my childhood. On weekends when we lived in Ontario my school would show these old flicks for a low price.  Not to mention them being on TV.

The plots were simpler in some ways, and left more to your imagination in other ways. I forgot how much I used to idolize Tarzan because of these movies. It was a great way to end a night.

More Tarzan movies are coming on AMC but I do need to sleep. Time to do some judicious downloading. ;)

What the ... cheat?!?!?

I learned as a child that just because you can do something doesn't make it right. Evidently some Olympic athletes haven't learned that.

In the wake of the South Korean-Chinese-Indonesian cheating scandal in badminton we now have the antics of the British men's cycling team. After they won the gold one of the cyclists admitted that a team mate, Philip Hindes, deliberately crashed earlier in the competition so the qualifying round would be restarted.

Hindes, 19, suggested the crash was part of a deliberate ploy because the British team had made a poor start.

He said after winning gold: 'We were saying if we have a bad start, we need to crash to get a restart. I just crashed, I did it on purpose to get a restart, just to have the fastest ride. I did it. So it was all planned, really.'

The International Cycling Union confirmed that the incident had been reviewed at the time and the result was not in question - so all three British cyclists will keep their gold medals.

If that doesn't fall under the banner of poor sportsmanship I don't know what does. While the ICU feels it was within the rules that still doesn't make it right. Just as the badminton players cheated by not playing their best deliberately to affect who they would play next this action on the part of the Brits stinks. They should have been disqualified.

What to do?

A friend, mutual friend, asked me a question last week. He informed me that Hilda is coming to town later this month and asked what I will do if she contacts me. My answer was easy. Nothing, because she won't. It isn't her style. Unless she has finally changed her ways. Which would be a good thing because she wasn't an evil person, just a bad friend.

When I last talked to Hilda she had no clue what to do to salvage our friendship. That in itself was very telling and not unexpected. One of the problems with her is that nothing is ever her fault. It is always the other person who screwed up and has to make moves to patch things up. Whether that is reality or not.

There were only 2 things she had to do to maintain her friendship with me. Pretty simple things. First, once she actually knew what she did wrong sincerely apologize for it. Before knowing, she issued a blanket apology for whatever it was. Which is basic Hilda. Mind you it is something she would NEVER accept from anyone else. If you don't know what you are apologizing for the apology means nothing.

Secondly, she would have to have shown me that she was changing her ways. Hilda had become an extremely unreliable and bitchy person. You just couldn't count on her to be there, UNLESS she needed something from you. Other friends, like Spock, wrote her off years before I did because of this behaviour. She had also become way too bitchy and insulting. Often she would hide behind the excuse of "just being blunt". Of course to change her ways she would have to admit she did something wrong.

One thing I learned about Hilda over the years was that she rarely accepted responsibility when she lost friends. And she lost quite a few. She would rationalize to try and make herself innocent of anything that might have caused the rift. It was no use trying to point out what she did wrong to her.

Some of her last words to me were "Well, I can't think of anything else I can do."

And that was the moment when I said enough is enough. If a person has to be told they should give a sincere apology anything they say would be meaningless. I knew she wasn't going to change and that was the end of the friendship.

Or, as she told Stig, I threw our friendship away. Because nothing is ever her fault in any way. It is always others.

If she contacts me while she is here I wouldn't tell her to fuck off. But she would have to show she had changed before any friendship could be renewed. Not that I actually expect to hear from her. That would be completely out of character for her. If she did it would be a good sign that she has changed.
